Private Lessons & Policy

Our mission at U.S. Ice has always been to provide you with a quality facility and exceptional programs and we are committed to continually improving to offer you the best opportunities possible. With this in mind, a new coaches’ policy will be put into effect on September 8, 2008.

All coaches wishing to teach at U.S. Ice must fall under one of the categories as outlined below:

U.S. Ice Staff Coaches: These coaches, defined as those who are actively employed by the U.S. Ice Sports Complex to teach its instructional classes and/or other programs, will not be charged to skate on and/or teach on freestyles and public sessions.

Guest Coaches: Guest coaches are defined as coaches who are brought in by U.S. Ice Staff Coaches to work with U.S. Ice Staff Coaches’ students, as well as the staff coaches themselves. These coaches do not have to pay for the ice time during which the guest coach is working with the U.S. Ice Staff Coaches’ students or the staff coaches. If the guest coach elects to teach his/her own skaters on the ice time, the guest coach will be charged for the time during which he/she is working with his/her own students. In addition, if the guest coach chooses to skate for himself/herself, he/she will be charged for the ice time that he/she skates on. Guest coaches will be given an identification badge to be worn during their time in the building.

Authorized Coaches: Authorized coaches (authorization is subject to approval by U.S. Ice’s management team) are welcome to teach at the U.S. Ice Sports Complex. These coaches will be charged the respective admission rate for the ice time that they teach and/or skate on. Coaches must submit a letter of intent along with a list of his/her students to U.S. Ice management, which will then be reviewed for approval. All approved coaches will be given an identification badge to be worn during their time in the building. Authorized coaches must notify U.S. Ice management of any student additions or removals from their private coaching portfolio. Management reserves the right to refuse, deny, or revoke authorized coaching status at any time. Any coach who removes a U.S. Ice skater from programs (i.e. instructional classes, freestyle ice, et cetera) at the U.S. Ice Sports Complex in order to teach the said skater privately will no longer be permitted to teach at the U.S. Ice Sports Complex.

Again, this policy will be active as of September 8, 2008. All coaches wishing to teach at U.S. Ice must have appropriate identification badges as indicated above to teach on U.S. Ice ice times. Please plan accordingly to avoid any interruptions in your teaching schedule and have the requested information submitted to U.S. Ice management in a timely fashion.

We are also proud to offer private lessons with a qualified staff for those who wish to compete,
advance through the levels at an accelerated pace, and/or those who would like additional
instruction. Private lessons are intended to be supplemental to group classes, just as after-school
tutoring is intended to be supplemental to school classes. With this in mind, we have established a new private lesson policy that will be put into effect on September 8, 2008.
The new policy is as follows:

Any U.S. Ice skater who is currently taking private lessons (either before or after
September 8, 2008) shall be enrolled in a Learn to Skate class (i.e. Basic 1-8, Free Skate
1-6, Jump & Spin, and/or Synchro) OR shall contract a minimum of 9 hours of freestyle
ice per 7-week session.

This new policy is intended to encourage your skating progression and development through a
variety of flexible options: additional instruction, increased practice time, and/or engaging in
new skating opportunities such as Jump & Spin and Synchronized Skating.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in helping us to build a program that encourages
camaraderie and teamwork amongst its skaters, as well as one that all U.S. Ice skaters, families,
and coaches can take pride in.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us to continue to offer quality programming and instruction to all skaters in a safe, secure, and friendly setting.
